Central Park Forest Run Video
Friday, July 30, 2010 at 1:48PM Sometimes it is necessary to just let loose and allow the creative juices to flow. Todd handed me the reigns for the night so I came up with a wild workout for the group, and luckily they trusted me enough to go with it. The workout consisted of a sprint up a long hill followed by a recovery jog on a flat that led into a downhill. But the rub was, the path was a small cement trail in the CP forest, that went onto grass and then barkdust (a change of surface as well as scenery) There was no rest (when do you rest in a race?), and the goal was to run consistently for a total of 20 minutes. It was a lesson in learning to recover when in oxygen debt as well as understanding change of pace. It was a complex hybrid workout, and the group ran it superbly. I heard it was tough (I ran two of the loops myself and agree)! Also, I heard, the forest and nice scenery was an added bonus. Check it out and decide for yourself.
